Hi list ! This discussion about PEAR channels is quite interesting. What I would like to see is an official server at (let's say) http://app.php.net/ with lots of frameworks, an Application repository ! As simple as that. Are there some motivated people willing to take this kind of project ? It would be really nice to extend PEAR and PECL to higher level *standard* applicative chunks of code. It would also have a high educationnal value, like many free softwares around, but in a centralized place. It's nice to see how other people design web applications, especially small bricks, when you're not a very experienced developper. I was going to propose my PaRSSe package which kind of glue together XML_RSS, Cache_Lite and a custom little template system (which could have been a renderer)... When I read this thread. Now, I see my package is actually a simple application that could be mixed with some other parts together to build a larger and safer one, just like the Horde's puzzle pieces. To have a single official repository for these would be awesome for the developpment of PHP. I think. I am also working on some command-line tools for LAMP, which I want to pack in a PEAR package. Why not ? This could lead to a Debian-ish structure for webmasters using shared hosts witt neither sudo nor gcc. My PaRSSe package can be installed like this: pear install http://www.sourcelibre.com/pear/PaRSSe-0.3.1.tgz And then view the file lib/phptest/PaRSSe/example.php for an example. It filters RSS and RDF posts, keeping only those matching provided keywords. Perhaps I could simply add a method to XML_RSS or something. aalex
