Agreed, we should accept "all" or nothing.
channels.pear.php.net will much more easier to get. It makes more
sense too, it's pear related (installer in this case).
Once 1.4 got a stable release we can provide a channel list on
pear.php.net/channels.php aliased to channels.pear.php.net.
