eaccelerator may be fast but unfortunately it has stability issues which currently seems to one is able to resolve. They seem to only appear on high traffic sites, which is usually the reason you start using such a software. We started using it and after about one week it started segfaults that badly in apache. Others have similiar problems too, just read the forum/bug reports on sf.net. To my knowledge, no solution available yet. - Markus Greg Stark wrote:
Does anyone have any experience with both of APC and eaccelerator (nee Turck mmcache)? It seems eaccelerator is much faster but APC is written by PHP developers more closely involved with core development. If someone has experience with both and tells me that eaccelerator is just as stable and reliable and that it really is faster then I would use it. But otherwise I would have to weigh pretty heavily the reputation capital of the developers and hopefully the greater reliability of APC. Why would it be slower anyways? The pages that claim this are quite old, does anyone have any idea if these results still hold?
