Scott Mattocks (http://pear.php.net/user/scottmattocks) has commented on the proposal for
RFC::EvalForbiddance.
Comment:
Is this really necessary? All packages undergo serious peer review already
which should catch all cases of bad coding practice. I don't think we
really need a special rule that says you shouldn't write bad code.
I am not suggesting that the use of eval() is ok. I am worried about
setting a precendent. Today we ban eval() tomorrow some other function. I
think it would be better to let PEAR work the way it is supposed to and
make sure that we keep an eye out for bad things in each others code.
