Hi Bertrant, first of all, big thanks for your (big) feeback... and sorry for the late (vacation + no time :/ ) > * the pckg optionnally includes a ref to phpmyadmin > (only mySql ?), * I did not understood where it was > used ... as I saw only the main class. I think that > should better be 2 separates files. In fact, this feature permits to launch (link) a MySQL window (direct query) with the query you want to debug, so yes it is MySql dependant. > * I'm very doubtfull about the main connection > between main class Debug Me too :) > and class DebugLine built on a global object. I > think the class structure could cope with that using > references. also, if I want to debug some classes, > the only way I can use is to create a global debug > object. Some static method could do it ? The actual behavior for creating the PHP_Debug is : $PHP_Dbg_obj = new PHP_Debug(); you don't have to deal directly with the global object, if you create more than 1 object, the global object is array and can handle multiple instance... but i had some issues (omg that's far now) and yes the class probably need a complete rewrite from this point of view, i'll need advice in order to do it in a nice way. > * you are mixing the data with the html presentation, > I'm not sure it's wide usable for other "outputs" , > at least a plain output could be nice. > Perhaps some XML or even separate the production and > the rendering ? Weel, the first output method is on the screen because the basic purpose of the class is for the developper to debug their PHP code and have at any time, var values, array dump... but i have some users who asked me about a log output. So yes i probably have to separate completely the datas from the presentation. > * I've the feeling you intersect with the Benchmark > and PHPUnit packages. Some integration could be > perhaps envisaged ... I must admit i didn't test all thoses packages. I'm personnaly orienting > (or trying to) Benchmark toward more > automatization/tools (see my proposal > Benchmark_Resource) . But ok, it's uneasy to define > and implement ... Well for me, the very first purpose of my package is to debug not to benchmarck the code, the benchmark indicators are secondaries features. > er... let me know if my english is too bad, je peux > traduire ... à+ bertrand "toggg" Gugger Once again, thanks for your feeback. :) > Pear visibility I wanted to react about a post about "Pear visibility" on the web For me, as you can see, i have started as a standart Sourceforge project, even if my class is not a "huge" class. I wanted to be the more exhaustive possible, so the classe has it website, forum, faq, todo tracker, installation tutorial, documention (phpdoc) for every verson, news, examples, i am doing support by email, i have done some referencing on phpclasses style site... Why ? Because i wanted that the users see that it is not just a php class too download. Actually there are many Pear packages that are missing this (at least the front end doc and examples) that's a pitty, because it is the first thing that we are looking for.. A "Hello world !" for the package. So for the new users are coming to Pear, if they don't find doc, examples, they will not see clearly the difference with a class on any phpclasses sites. Loic.
