When the field is edited, could you maybe just listen to all keypress and catch
returns, instead of trying to disable the form submit buttons ?

I mean a way to disable the functionality in case XMLHTTPRequest is not
supported by the browser. For example, you could maybe test if the required
functionalities exist, if not go no further ?
