Well if you look at the PEAR manual there doesn't seem any reason why a framework wouldn't fit: http://pear.php.net/manual/en/newmaint.when-to-contribute.php Its a general purpose solution to common problems. The thing against that are: PEAR doesn't generally like tons of competing implementations doing the same things (i know there are 6 templates but thats the exception not the rule) PEAR as a community could never agree on one framework and doesn't want to be in the position of backing one. Now i guess if you wanted to get your framework in place, the place to start would be on PEAR dev, asking to create a framework category, and set up some rules for what could get included in it. -josh Brian Fioca wrote:
May I ask why pear doesn't support Frameworks? (I'm assuming you mean web application development frameworks). I haven't been able to find a page on the site that mentions this. Maybe I've missed it, but I'm interesting in understanding the reasoning. Also, would it be possible to request the creation of this category? Joshua Eichorn (http://pear.php.net/user/jeichorn) has commented on the proposal for Tools and Utilities::WASP. Comment: This doesn't belong in Tools and Utilities. It would be belong in a Frameworks category, but pear doesn't support them. You can always setup your own pear channel and still use the installer etc, but no frameworks will get into PEAR.
