Except that it's dead slow I guess :-). PHP 4.1 will bundle Dan
Libby's xmlrpc-epi library and extension to address the performance
problem and awkwardness of the current implementation. A benchmark I
did a few weeks ago gave us a an 8x overall tps increase (and half the
number of code lines needed in the xmlrpc handler functions) when
switching from the current PEAR implementation (which is just a
PEAR-ified version of Edd Dumbill's library) to Dan Libby's
xmlrpc-epi-php (written in C).
A SOAP library using the same building blocks will be just as slow of
course (the main problem is that it uses deeply nested PHP objects).
For now that'll have to do, but I hope someone takes on themselves to
eventually write a C SOAP implementation for PEAR with object
overloading (yum).
