If anyone has been following internals Mailing list, you may have noticed a discussion about static method calls.
basically in PHP6
class PEAR {
function getStaticProperty($x,$y) { static $a; return $a[$x][$y]; }
}
$a = PEAR::getStaticProperty($x,$y);
will throw an FATAL error!, unless you prefix the function with static.
While It's not 100% certain that it's going to be changed, there are a few objections on internals, It may be time to think about PEAR2 as a alpha, tidied up for PHP5/6...
We havent seen anyone jump up and down volunteering to take over PEAR[2] yet, and at most I would only volunteer just making it work with PHP5/6, not re-writing the error engine.. - So If you are interested, now may be a good time to shout and make your opinion heard...
