Hi,
About the other packages, I need more time to dig in and comment. I
will answer on the top priority packages.

So we have about 20 packages to rewrite... Of these I think the following have top priority: * A new caching packageAgreed, I like to hear Fabien here. If not, a port is not that hard, and fixing the API issues if any. But I like Cache_Lite in general for example. I can help to do it if there is a need.
* HTTP_Request2I don't think it is a priority, but it is a good thing to have it. Also pecl/http can be used as based or http_request being a http fallback. I do not use them, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)
* Log2Sure, Jon?
* MDB3 (?)Yes, but there is a huge discussion to have before. Let move it outside this thread and take our time (while Lukas is around).
* XML_Parser2 (PHP5 has some cool XML thingies, but SAX parser is still sometimes the best solution)A big -1 here. We have xmlreader and writer which are sax-like parsers. They are fast, memory efficient and builtin. As long as XML support is enabled in PHP, they are available as well. Cheers, --Pierre
