DB_ibase request

It may be something that has already been discussed on this list (as you know I'm pretty new to PEAR), but I have a feature request for the ibase DB driver. Interbase returns field names as uppercase strings, and I have found this to be a problem when I retrieve associative arrays in my code from DB, and then have to migrate the same code to a different database, where field names are usually lowercase (at least in mysql). Would it be possible to convert field names in the ibase driver to lowercase (hmm I know, it would break compatibility with existent code), or at least provide an option to force it to do so?
