I'm looking for the newbie guide for building a PEAR package. The docs are there but all over the place, and there is no simple step-by-step process for a newbie to go through.

The tutorial for newbie and user guide about PEAR_PackageFileManager (HOW TO make PEAR package xml 1.0 or 2.0) is currently under writing. I hope to finish the first Draft to re-read (by Gregory Beaver) in next days (less than a week).

I was hoping that writing the code/library would be the hard part, but making it PEARified has been the stumbling block. Help?

If you can't wait and start begin, I suggest you to examine all examples scripts into PEAR_PackageFileManager 1.6.0b5 distribution, or online on PEAR CVS [1]; its same scripts. Have a look on "makepackage.php" if you want to create a package.xml 2.0 from scratch (as its seems to be your need). Some explains are also given on my web site [2]

I'd be happy to write it up once I go through it, and add it to the manual. Beckman
