The bug statistics are designed to encourage bug fixing. There was a
bit of grumbling about the sinister nature of statistics, but the proof
is in the pudding: the bug count is down to 370 +/- 10, with the lowest
snapshot count I've seen being about 365. We still have a ways to go
(and most of the bugs are in the Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer
package/Mail_MimeDecode/SOAP packages), but personally I would like to
keep these simple and think of them in a "how does this help PEAR" kind
of way.
I agree on that one. Once I noticed I was a lot lower on the stats then I realised, I fixed up quite a few of the bugs in existance. That, combined with the roadmap feature made me fix up and release all those packages. Seriously, the best thing I can suggest to ANY developer. Go to your package home page, create the roadmaps, and follow them.
On the topic of the Mail_MimeDecode package, I've created a set of roadmaps for its releases, so those counts should be going down again too :) I plan on moving the Mail_MimeDecode package from the top to the end of the list on the stats page, and I dare ANYONE to beat me to it ;)
