Vijay Mahrra (http://pear.php.net/user/vijay) has commented on the proposal for Web
Services::Services_Flickr.
Comment:
Initially I tried to use the suggested class by Cal Henderson without any
success. It had been written in 2005/07/25 and hasn't been updated since.
The class I have written:
a) allows different constructors to be used for different API interfaces
(if required) whereas the suggested class has calls hardcoded to be used
only with the REST API only.
b) uses the results from flickr returned as a PEAR_Error (with the flickr
error code and message) or an array built from the XML returned, whereas
the other class uses XML_Tree. Also the error code returned, if negative
is the HTTP status code which should aid error handling/debugging.
c) uses user-definable urls instead of hard-coded ones (the other class
uses www.flickr.com instead of api.flickr.com which appears to be
deprecated)
d) The class I have written allows the setting of the values to
HTTP_Request
e) The class I wrote allows multiple calls with a user set api token from
any script (once set), whereas the other class requires the user to
authenticate and get a frob token for the session only.
I have successfully used my class to upload and tag several thousand
images to flickr without problems.
Hope this explains things better.
