Sebastian,
David requested as a condition that I move from extending PEAR_Exception to the base PHP5 Exception
so it would be real PHP5. I interpreted it as meaning David believed PEAR_Exception to be a PHP4
package - which it's not - hence the spookiness ;).
He corrected himself quickly thereafter - so ignore the comment. It was only in jest.

yes, about using PHP or PEAR exceptions - right, but i was talking about

why is it important/interesting if PHP 4 has exceptions or not?
i read it like "i could not use Exception cause they are not exists/work in
PHP 4"
but Christian already confirmed:
new PEAR packages does not require PHP 4 compatibility
