Chuck, Finally after re-play actions on phpDocumentor 1.4.0 I got the same problem. But, be cool, it's not a problem to basic phpdoc 1.4.0 or even 1.4.1 When you have no XML/Beautifier package installed, there is no problem. The bug come when you install XML/Beautifier.
