Re: Adding a new license to PEAR: CDDL

Hi As much as the CDDL is a good license, I'd be cautious with using such kind of licenses in PEAR. First, it's not GPL compatible ( http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html ) and if you're using such a license for a PEAR package, you will get a lot of mails from GPL-using software "vendors" and debian-legal :) I don't care much about debian-legal, but there are major PHP projects out there, which try to follow, what gnu.org tells about the GPL and like to use maybe exactly your package. So we for example changed the webdav package license from the (allegedly) GPL incompatible PHP License to a more friendly non-advertisement-clause BSD license. And second, I also would prefer less licensing "chaos" in PEAR than more. And to just make it clear, I'm no big fan of GPL and I'd prefer a PEAR completely covered by one BSD-style license, but you have to face realities from time to time :) chregu On 29.1.2008 17:03 Uhr, Travis Swicegood wrote:
