Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone would be interesting in handling a bi-monthly bug triage day on #pear-bugs EFNet? This is an idea we've had floating around for years and as of recently more people have been pushing for it and so I think we should try to make it possible. So what is bug triaging, just to pick a random link from google: http://geekswithblogs.net/srkprasad/archive/2004/08/20/9961.aspx Obviously pear doesn't have severity or priority fields (except for critical) but the idea is simple, we pick X packages and go over their bug reports, verify them, create test cases and even write patches and attach to the packages. We'd be picking packages that have a lot of users but lack maintainers attention or the maintainers can't handle the load but of course we can turn this into a simple "hack on your own bugs and bounce ideas of other people" but well we can debate that later on :) Regarding bi-monthly, that's only an idea can be monthly, yearly, whatever you guys want and we don't have to have a strict schedule either but my idea is bi-monthly, two day event if possible since people are not always free on saturday but are on sunday or via versa. Now the packages I'd like to nominate are: 1) Mail_Mime 2) Mail_MimeDecode 3) Excel Writer 4) SOAP 5) File_Archive 6) Image_Graph But I think we should only pick X many so everyone is focusing on the same package and we'd need some nifty way of marking who's triaging what, some irc bot module perhaps ? Wiki ? Let the ideas flow boys and girls! - Helgi
