I only picked up System_Command (I'm the current maintainer) when I found it
had some bugs I needed fixed. I have no plans to take it forward (eg, to usher
it forward into PHP5) -- I'm just watching over it to fix any important bugs
since I now understand it thoroughly.
So yes, I would be in favor of someone starting a whole new System_Command2
package. Propose away... and welcome to PEAR developement! :)
