I would prefer a mix of both systems, this is, someone told us (Derick?
;-) that a new php release is coming for the day X and we then start our
QA process. Once it's done we merge all the changes to the branch and
let pear ready for other QA processes and final corrections during the
RCs.
I would prefer to spend one evening on QA than merging each time to
branch, but it's just my opinion.
