Hi Alexander (and folk on PEAR-Dev :p),
I am currently working on a PHP5 package for supporting the OAuth Core 1.0 Specification. The new
library requires using RSA signatures and I note that the main package for RSA in PEAR is maintained
by yourself. My problem, as such, is that the package appears to be unsuitable for a PHP5 component
for a few reasons. The last release was of a beta package back in February 2006, the package does
not offload work on the common OpenSSL extension, and for other reasons OAuth would not be allowed
to become Stable using a PHP4 package which is unlikely to be installed correctly (since it's
beta - the older stable 1.0.0 will likely be it). Also the support of the PEM/DER format is still so
limited that importing certificates or private keys from that format is not possible without further
development.
I would like to offer that I either assist or take over maintenance of Crypt_RSA (PHP4) and also to
propose a new Crypt_RSA2 PHP5 variant relying on OpenSSL as well as the current native
implementation. I have already done quite a bit of work elsewhere in implementing RSA support in
PHP5.
It would be great to hear from you!
Best regards,
Paddy
