What packages do you find yourself using day to day?
That's a pretty good starting point
General steps to get started:
1. Check if your favourite packages have open bugs.
2. Improve the quality of the bug report when possible (steps to
reproduce or an executable test case)
3. If you can, provide a patch :)
4. Hassle the maintainer!
5. Repeat
We also do Bug Triage days, and hang out on IRC.
