I don't think we should support every imaginable adapter. I don't know anyone, these days, that has serious problems getting curl installed with PHP. Same goes for the http extension. My opinion is that we shouldn't create adapters that /cannot /do multiple inflight HTTP requests. One of the reasons I don't use HTTP_Request for more serious coding is that I'm unable to take advantage of parallel and asynchronous requests.
I say we start with the easy ones and then add others as people submit them themselves. As a result, my vote is we do HTTP_Request2 with *only* curl and PECL http support.Imho there are two options: * start with a complete http_request package that use sockets as the base adapter (making possible to plug other adapters), that's what I tried to start, but maybe we're in the wrong direction; * start with a really light wrapper around cURL (this is what Net_CURL already does no ?), and add sockets support later... (I don't mention pecl http because it already has a high level OO api, and it already wraps curl as Alexey pointed). -- David
