The classic readfile, writefile functions already exist in php ;), a system of file locking ( as far
as it is possible... ) with an inside retry/failed feature, others file system functions I will
appreciate is the ones you will find in the files and misc utilities of the glib api
(http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/glib/glib-file-utilities.html and http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/glib/glib-miscellaneous-utility-functions.html).
Especially, build_path, get_basename, path_is_absolute, very usefull for path/os independent system.
