About an hour after your first email, one of the developers pinged us and
asked to us to do a QA release. I swapped him over to lead and asked him to
get in contact with you; so you'll probably end up as a developer on the
package in the near future.
Other good ways you can contribute; and if you love the QA process; might be
to look into some of the tasks we've got lined up for the next bug triage /
qa style day

A good one is often:
http://pear.php.net/bugs/search.php?search_for=&boolean=0&limit=50&order_by=id&direction=DESC&cmd=display&status=Open&bug_type=All&php_os=&packagever=&phpver=&assign=&maintain=&author_email=&bug_age=0&bug_updated=0
1. Is there enough information for you to understand it?
2. Testcases?
3. Patches?
4. Do you need to ask the submitter for more information / clarity?
It'll help introduce you to the community and the nasty buggy side of PEAR
you don't see as much of.
