Hey there everyone, hope you are all doing well :) This time of the year has come, the elections for the PEAR group and PEAR presidency is taking place on June 15 2009. So if anyone would be interested into nominating someone they believe would be a good fit for the group or presidency, it's time to start raising names and hands! I'd love if you could along the names of your nominees so we can start gathering a list.I'd like to add myself to the list. The biggest reason I decided to run last year was getting the new pear2 coding standard ironed out. Had a few hiccups along the way, but it is coming with a lot of community support, both inside and outside the pear-dev world. Keep your eyes out for a big announcement soon. This coming year I want to continue to promote standards within PEAR and the larger PHP community. With PHP 5.3 just around the bend, we're getting close to the point that packages in PEAR2 will be useable by the general public. I want to help make sure that people are aware of the great PHP 5.3 code that's available and framework agnostic that will be (and in some cases already is) in PEAR2. In my mind, the way to bring PEAR back up to the standard that it once was is through community involvement. Not only do we need to be active in PEAR ourselves, but we need to get out there and make sure everyone knows what's available to them and, more importantly, how to take advantage of it. Thanks for the opportunity this past year, and I look forward to continuing to help make PEAR2 *the* source for reusable code in PHP for years to come. -T
