Hi Christian,
I have (I believe) enhanced the functionality of OpenDocument, and
this is partly working: OpenDocument should be able to open a ODT
document and write back to it only the parts which have been modified
- leaving the rest of the document intact. The idea behind it: act as
defensively as possible.
I have the code in Subversion locally in our office, I should upload
it or hand it out for review, but there is a main problem that I still
need to fix related to the encoding used by the XML documents. As soon
as this is working the "defensive mode" would allow opening an
existing document and apply small modifications to it with low risk of
corrupting the file or losing data.
At the moment I need to finish other work, however, (Joomla! component
development) and I hope I can get back to OpenDocument in about 1.5 to
2 weeks time. I'd be happy to share my changes and also support
everyone willing to fix the remaining problems fast, given someone
willing to do so.
Any suggestions how to proceed?
Cheers, Peter
P.S.: For Spreadsheet there is Apache POI pretty stable (at least for
the non-XML-based formats), okay this is Java not PHP. (Unfortunately
it is still experimental for text docs!) I'd use that if you are just
looking for a _solution_!
