An additional reference point may be Solar_Request: - <http://svn.solarphp.com/core/trunk/Solar/Request.php> - <http://solarphp.com/class/Solar_Request> It is not fully decoupled from other Solar code, but I think the concept of the class as a whole is clear. Similarly, Zend Framework has Zend_Controller_Request: - <http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/standard/trunk/library/Zend/Controller/Request
Both Solar and Zend are PEAR-like; you may wish to include them in your future searches for functionality.
Paul, I'll certainly take a look at both. Thank you. I do want to see if there's a PEAR package, and if not I will build one. The reason is that for some developers, they want to avoid frameworks, and I totally think that's a valid decision. I want to make sure that they are well-equiped to do so, and I think PEAR gives them the option. For better or worse, I've worked with clients who outright refuse to allow the use of a framework, but I don't want to rewrite some code (like a Logger).
Sorry, I phrased that poorly; I didn't mean to suggest using those frameworks (good though they may be) instead of PEAR libs. I meant, "when searching for functionality to incorporate into the package you're thinking about for PEAR, and perhaps for future packages you may propose." Hope that's more clear. :-)
No worries. I'm glad that we're on the same page. We use a request object at work, which is where I got the idea. Having a standard API for interfacing with requests is nice. Brandon
