.registry files in xmlrpc format

Hi all,
Are there any plans to make the .registry files in a xml format compatible
with xmlrpc ? This would make my life easier for parsing the data to display
the installed packages in a client app.
Are there going to be subcategories in categories to put packages in. For
instance, I've seen that in the category table there were parent, right and
left fields. Are we going to use them ? I am thinking about HTML/Template
for instance.
