Hi,
Not sure if these should go to the PEAR-Dev or general list... I can't get the package manager installed properly:

This script will install the PEAR Installer command 'pear' and
all the files needed by it. The 'pear' command is the tool
that can manage PEAR packages downloaded both from the PEAR website
(http://pear.php.net) or from the 'pear/' CVS module of cvs.php.net.
With this script you can also download and install
the common PEAR files from CVS that also come with any PHP distribution
(located at php4/pear in CVS). The common PEAR files means classes like
PEAR DB, XML_Parser, IT template engine or Mail. Please read the
FAQ at http://pear.php.net/faq.php for more information.
For an explanation on how to use the PEAR Installer or what PEAR
packages are, visit:
http://cvs.php.net/co.php/pearweb/doc/pear_package_manager.txt
Which filename do you want to use for the 'pear' executable?
[/usr/home/reywob/usr/local/bin/pear] :
Some files need to be installed in your system
In what directory do you want to install them?
(note that the path has to be in the include_path of your php.ini)
[/usr/home/reywob/usr/local/lib/php] :
Do you also want to install the common PEAR files? [Y/n] : Y

The 'pear' command has been successfully installed under /usr/home/reywob/usr/local/bin/pear
try it by typing '/usr/home/reywob/usr/local/bin/pear' for help
narrow-gauge%
-----------8<--------------
Then, when I try to run the pear script I get the following errors:
-----------8<--------------
narrow-gauge% virtual pear list
(no packages installed)
narrow-gauge% virtual pear get
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
narrow-gauge% virtual pear help
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
narrow-gauge%
-----------8<--------------
FYI, I have to use the "virtual" command because I'm on an iServer/Verio virtual private server (some form of jailed FreeBSD I believe) so the actual server root doesn't match up with my root when running scripts via ssh.
Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks
Peter
