Yes, it's what I was thinking. So, to summarize, you get xmlrpc data, then
you decode it, then you serialize it, is that correct ? I understand the
first two steps are necessary but I don't see why you need to serialize the
data instead of just storing the xmlrpc data. I probably missed something ?
If you store xmlrpc data instead of serialized php vars, other apps could
use this cache, which could prove useful. It's easier to find xmlrpc decoder
than php unserialiser these days.
This wouldn't be a problem if the pear installer could speak xmlrpc.
