Its not too difficult on debian - most of the packages required to generate the html from the docbook are apt-get able.. - I think theres some more instructions on that somewhere in cvs. after you have it all working - just rm manual.xml;make and it makes all the html in /html for writing it. - It took me a while to work out the format Tricks: put <!-- large ammounts of white space and Header Comments between the sections - it makes stuff easy alot easier to find.. --> Try and use 2 spaces to indent the xml structure (thats roughly what all the current stuff does.) - it makes finding mistakes a bit easier watch out for <para>.....<para> rather than <para>.....</para> - this always gets me, but the Make stuff will pick it up as an errror.. There is a skeleton page in the manual The make process will flag any xml grammer errors - eg. tagX cant go inside tagY etc. or tagZ is not closed etc. I was considering modifying php_Codedoc a bit to generate and update docbook files. from source (and probably include example code from /doc/example1.php) etc. There are a few issues with this however - (more for complex class groups like MDB etc.) For Image_Transform it should be possible just to tell it to generate docs from the main Class.. regards alan Peter Bowyer wrote:

It would be even better to integrate all the tutorials (the ones written by Tomas and the ones from pearfr.org) into the PEAR manual. Right now there is a pretty messy situation since we have good stuff on the web, which is _really_ hard to find.
I think part of the problem is that it's much easier to write a HTML page than the Docbook stuff required for the PEAR manual. I haven't found any good tutorials on writing it, hence Image_Transform currently has no documentation :-( Peter
