Hi Just to make things clearer. I'm not the writer of this class, I just wrote the xml-container. Alexander Merz wrote the main part. > There might be a way to keep the last Config class for as long as you want > to maintain it by using the pear installer. I could call my class Config 2.0 > while yours will still be 1.x ? With the pear installer, users can choose > which version of a package they want to install. Can they? How? (Just wondering :) ) > In the CVS, it might also be possible to create a new branch if you want to > continue to work on your config class. Unfortunately, I am not really CVS > aware, so other developers might confirm... :) yep, you can branch in CVS. But I don't think, much maintenance work is needed for it (the "old" Config class). But it would be great, if one still can download the old one some time into the future. My questions were more of a general kind. I personally still think it's not very good practice to change the API biiig time in a declared-as-stable package. But if the pear installer provides features to handle that, i can live with it :) chregu -- christian stocker | bitflux GmbH | schöneggstrasse 5 | ch-8004 zurich phone +41 1 240 56 70 | mobile +41 76 561 88 60 | fax +41 1 240 56 71 http://www.bitflux.ch | chregu@bitflux.ch | gnupg-keyid 0x5CE1DECB
