Hi Yavor,
I´ve proposed almost exactly the same thing some months ago and didn´t
get much feedback on it, so I´m interested to see if you will have more
luck :-)
I´d really like to see such a class in PEAR and I´ve written one myself
that matches your feature set, except that it can also take care of
paging the data, and works with IntegratedTemplate, so it doesn´t matter
if the output is text, HTML, XML or whatever else.
Much of the field information is drawn out of DB´s tableInfo(), but you
can always override any individual field setting, because each column is
represented by an object of a column class that can be configured
individually. The column class supports some standard formatting types
for the data, and can also use a user-defined callback method if you
need something special.
I was planning to add the possibility for inline editing of table rows,
but that will take a while as I don´t have time to develop it any
further ATM.
I am very interested in seeing your approach.
Regards,
Markus
