So is this an issue with pear.php.net's configuration or is this more
likely some browser foobar?

I have this effect with Mozilla sometimes.
You can use accents without problems, i mad a test with the french
version before writing my first reply. Please note, that the german
version also does not use entities for the german umlauts.

This problem appears some time, when i reload my page...
When i access for the first time to this page, it's ok,
then, i reload and encoding problem appears.
For accent in documentation, you tell me that i can use
accent instead of html's entities in Cvs source file ? (é
instead of é) Could you please confirm that ?
Thanks for your interest.

You can use accents without problem. The character encoding is fine
here. What happens if you use another browser?

Description:
------------
I'm a french translator of the pear manuel (php and Smarty too).
When you see this page :
http://pear.php.net/manual/fr/
You can see that some caracter are not valid.
In Cvs source file, this caracter are noteed as html entities, like
Pear's Developpers wants.
This problem is present in many files of the French documentation.
In Php and Smarty documentation, we (translators) can use accent
without use html's entities.
Is it possible to :
* solve this issus ?
* make possible to write ours translations with accent, like in Php and
Smarty's documentation ? It's very, very, very annoying to write
é instead of é....
