Help installing on PHP-4.3.x...

Greetings, I'm new to the list and am having trouble(s) installing pear on a PHP-4.3.x installation. This is a win2k box with apache-1.3.29-mod_ssl_OpenSSL and MySQL-4.1.2. I lost a PHP-4.3.1 installation in my last attempt to install pear, and now having a fresh installation of PHP-4.3.4, I'd hate to loose that one too. I've read all the doc's at the pear site regarding installation - actually, I've read the entire site. But it seems to reference PHP-4.2.x and lower. As do all the links to other sites I've followed. There is mention of "If you have PHP-4.3.x..." but no "jump" (link to the relevent information). So I'm stuck. Sorry, if I seem a bit "dim". But I'm a bit nervous after having lost a good PHP-4.3.1 install after atempting this. I'd *love* to write a recent "HOW-TO" on this after I get a good understanding of the install.
