It has nothing to do with PEAR::DB. The problem is that the PHP pgsql extension doesn't have prepare/execute yet, although it could be emulated in PEAR::DB, the best thing would be to have it built into the pgsql extension.
Prepare and execute are sql statements in PostgreSQL so this could be implemented with pure sql. culley
