probably stupid question of mine, but I couldn't figure that out yet: Does LiveUser by default save all session variables of the authenticated user to it's storage container? Can the user decide which session variables should be stored there?Err, currently liveuser fetches all the rights of the user and the groups that user is a member of, and also any user type relevant rights and builds a final right array which is cached in the session (using php4 session management). In the future we may add the ability to cache this array independant of the session and various different containers. We have made the necessary changes to the system, but havent implemented the feature yet.
I somehow had the impression (looking at the infos given) that there is a huge database structure possible (depending on how complex you want to have the rights associated with users, groups etc.) but couldn't understand the point mentioned above.Yes the structure can get large depending on the number of rights you have per user. However more importantly especially using all of the advanced complex features can result in a significant time being spend with building this array and as such it would be smart to cache this data longer than the session as I stated above.
Perhaps I have overread the corresponding part in the manuals available...Btw if we havent mentioned it: We would greatly appreciate it if all LiveUser users help improve Arnauds turorial or even better help build docbook documentation to include in the PEAR manual.
P.S.: Have to apologize, but I'm still using phplib where all that is possible and I simply didn't see up to now an easy way to migrate to PEAR because of my lack of insight into LiveUser's capabilities. But perhaps somebody knows what I missed here.I dont know phplib that well, but I am sure LiveUser spanks it well in terms of features :-) regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
