HTTP_Download - Hidden, how?

Hi, Just reading about the updated package 'HTTP_Download'. I don't understand what is "hidden" about the download? Just looked at the examples in the manual (http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.http.http-download.intro.php) -- surely you still need a client browser to access the script in order to kick off the d/l in the first place? Confused. Hope somebody can explain how this works for hidden downloads.
