A while back (ok, about a year ago), I installed PEAR_Frontend_Web by
placing go-pear.php in a
directory on my webserver and accessing it with a web browser. It worked for
me. I'm unsure if this still works, but I think it should. You should not
need to have anything else on your system before installing. However, it
will be necessary to create the install directory with the appropriate
rights so that apache can write to it, and you will also need to add it to
your include_path in your php.ini. Of course, the pear installation does not
need to be in the same place as go-pear.php.
Get the latest version here:
http://go-pear.org/
I installed it on windows, so it should work on all platforms.
