db, pear-gerneral

Hi, today i looked for some docs online, db->quote vs. db->quoteSmart. i was not amused about the infos: Deprecated in release 1.6.0 Function available since: Release 1.6.0 what about coding-standards? that is not a fine feature, i've installed db 1.5.0RC1 (stable). there should be a quote in db 1.6 also, because this is not a new major-release? for discussion i will refer to the german php-magazin 3.04, article 'neue birnen braucht das land'. so this posting will be a flame against the rules of the pear-group. i will also refer to a document from 14. november 2003, 'new guidelines for BC breaking releases': http://pear.php.net/group/docs/20031114-bbr.php i think this is for backward-compatibility, but can't find bc in pear::db. this will be a black day in my calendar.
