Idea of a simple scrambler like this is merely to make the source code
human-illegible (although logically equivalent PHP):
- better security
- better control of intellectual property (like in a client's intranet)
Scrambling is performed on a snapshot just before deploying in the
production environment.
Of course developers continue to work on the non-scrambled code!
I haven't done it, but it looks feasible.
