PEAR::Auth with the FILE container

Does anyone have any experience with using PEAR::Auth with the FILE
container?
I'm trying to understand why it timesout when it can't find a file in the
path given?
If the path is correct, I can add , etc. But if the path is wrong, it times
out with this error...
