I am lost. PEAR crisis!

I have just run the pear installer on my pc. I am running apache 2.0 and php version 4.3.7. I
followed some instructions I found on PHPKitchen http://www.phpkitchen.com/article.php?story=20021201062516970
but I am getting the following error....
Note: To use PEAR without any problems you need to add your
PEAR Installation path (C:\Apache2\htdocs\go-pear\PEAR)
to your include_path.
Using a .htaccess file or directly edit httpd.conf would be working solutions
for Apache running servers, too.
I'm not sure what has to be done... or where this change has to be made... any help would be
greatly appreciated...
