problem with DB/oci8.php

Dear DB people, we have upgraded recently the DB pear version to (1.7.0), then all the system fall down. With a no conection error. I found that the problems appear near line 129:

           if (isset($dsn['new_link'])
               && ($dsn['new_link'] == 'true' || $dsn['new_link'] === true))
           {
               $connect_function = 'oci_new_connect';
           } else {
               $connect_function = $persistent ? 'oci_pconnect'
                                   : 'oci_connect';
           }
           $char = empty($dsn['charset']) ? null : $dsn['charset'];
           $this->connection = @$connect_function($dsn['username'],
                                                  $dsn['password'],
                                                  $dsn['database'], <----- here maybe a hostspec could solve the problem
                                                  $char);

we was solved hidding all the if (function_exists) block. Is this correct or where are lost in space? Thx in advance -- Atte Pablo E.
