Would addslashes() do it for you? Invoke the method on your insert statement before you
try and use the Pear DB...
Good Luck...

method called quote() in DB class as documentation says.
I still have some problems saving special characters in both mysql and
oracle.
How can I save a string like "O'Connor" correctly into the database??
William.
