I don't have a problem with it either. The only esthetic thing I can
think of is that it would be nice if the seq tables had a configurable
prefix.
When you have to view the tables it would be nice to have them grouped
together so that they don't clutter up phpMyAdmin or whatever db admin
tool you happen to use. You wouldn't confuse them with other tables.
Not a big deal but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

I don't see it as a problem at all, because you never have to care
about, even look at, the sequence tables. Say you're making an open
source application... You write a script that creates the tables and
runs DB::createSequence() for each table. Then, in your application, you
use DB::nextId() to handle the sequences. You never have to look at or
do something with the sequence tables.
