From PHP 4.3.0 there will be no PEAR packages bundled with PHP anymore. They can be installed via the PEAR infrastructure (which will come with PHP) then.Sorry for asking, but if the intention of PEAR DB was to provide PHP programmers with a common database API (equivalent to Java's JDBC, Perl's DBI, etc.), how is that going to happen if PEAR DB isn't even included in the PHP distribution? Sure, you can install it using the PEAR infrastructure, but the result of PEAR DB not being included with PHP will be that a lot of web hosting companies won't install it, and that means that you can't distribute open source programs that use PEAR DB and know for sure they'll work.
