true about web hosting, but you can include PEAR
with your application's libraries in that case.
Anyway, I just installed PHP 4.2.2, which comes with PEAR,
but the distribution isn't quite the latest stable version. I used PEAR's
packege manager to download the Auth module only to find out
that my DB module isn't up to date. My recomendation is to
download every module using PEAR's package manager from
scratch.
