Ok, thanks to everyone for clearing me on how to use the pear installer. PHP
sure is getting more advanced all the time!
But, the problem still exists though.
Line 47 of the BASE.php file: require_once 'PEAR.php';
But there is no PEAR.php file in this package (my original problem).
Any suggestions?

Step 1:
$ pear help config-set
Step 2:
$ pear config-help
Step 3:
either:
$ pear install SOAP-beta
or:
$ pear config-set preferred_state beta
$ pear install SOAP
happy lathering.
